It’s no stretch to say that the last 90 days have been the most unique and challenging in my 30+ year career at NBM. NBM remained open when the rest of New England closed to ensure our essential customers had field equipment service, remote IT support, and supply fulfillment, especially in the healthcare, law enforcement, legal, and human services sectors. We were grateful to remain open and provide services to these essential businesses when they needed it most.
I’m happy to say that today, business looks much different. Things have definitely started to pick up as our customers have been able to get back to their offices and restart their businesses. Several of NBM’s customers continue to work remotely, and understandably many business meetings are still being conducted remotely. NBM advises customers to consider the following as they continue to conduct business remotely:
First, is your business protected by a commercial grade firewall? The safeguards offered by Comcast or Verizon for small business are simply not adequate to detect potential threats especially when employees are using devices at home and remoting into your network. A firewall is an essential barrier to your business, especially given the vulnerabilities lurking with an at-home network.
Second, there has never been a better time to move to Microsoft Office 365. NBM made the change internally earlier this year and the benefits are considerable. In today’s climate, it’s extremely valuable to have access to Microsoft Teams and OneDrive, so that remote workers can collaborate real-time, share files, and host virtual calls. More, the cloud service guarantees better security, access to the latest versions of Word, Excel and PowerPoint as part of the license, and overall greater flexibility.
Third, now is the time to upgrade your conference rooms to accommodate remote business meetings that have become the new norm. NBM offers a full line of interactive display boards including the industry first Windows authorized collaboration display.
